Press Information for Karl Injex, Atlanta USA
the story so far...
After a brief stint at NYU film school in 1991, Karl began djing as a means to support his voracious record collecting habit. By 1994, he had begun traveling outside Atlanta, playing in clubs from Miami to Montreal. In 1998, he and his partner initiated a column in Straight No Chaser tagged "Transatlantic Audio". The column soon caught the attention of Dynamite Joint recordings label head Darren Jacobs, who the following year, released the first installment of the Transatlantic Audio compilation series. The compilation, featuring UFO, Red Zinger, Archive's Enrico Crivellaro and others, was an overwhelming critical success. Trans/2 will be released Spring 2001, with exclusive unreleased material from the likes of Hajime Yoshizawa, Anthony Nicholson, and Shawn j. Period. In 1999, Karl formed Seventy3 productions with bassist Khari Simmons. The pair produced a mix for "Stars", Jiva's debut on Giant Step records. Karl also produces under the name "Taurus", and along with material for his Clairaudience label, Taurus has mixes for Les Gammas, Freestyle man, and Tom and Joyce on the way. Look out for a collaboration between Jiva and the lovely Julie Dexter, as well as mixed cd compilation to be released late summer on Clairaudience. |
